Description
THE PALACE COLLECTION: LOCAL ISSUES UNDER KING CHULALONGKOM
This very rare collection of the most elusive Palace stamps was collected many decades ago and mounted for presentation on three album pages.
The collection consists of:
– 1875-76 Prince Bhanurangsi 1att “Rising P” used, also examples with initials “B” and “P (used on fragment)
– 1880s Intra-Murals set of 9
– 1895 Rajakumar Royal Palace School 1att (4 different), 1sio (3 different) and 1sik (2 different)
– 1918-19 Dusit Thani miniature 3s perf., imperf. block of four and used on printed receipt
The quality is generally fine and usual for these items.
These represent an essential part of Thai philately which is missing from most top collections today.
We offered similar items only once before in our special Singapore auction of September 1995. A comparison of prices realised of individual items from that auction would give us an approximate value of US$50’000. It is thus moderately estimated today, 18 years later.
Estimate: € 30’000 – € 40’000 Auction
