NAPOLEONIC WARS: LETTER FROM HMS EAGLE DURING THE ADRIATIC CAMPAIGN TALKING ABOUT THE RUMOURED DEATH OF NAPOLEON 1812 (Aug 8) Entire sent from HMS Eagle in the “Gulf of Venice”, written by Lieutenant G. A. Woods of the British Royal Navy, with message talking about the enemy’s ships in Venice, as well as the rumour that Napoleon had been either killed or taken prisoner fighting against the Russians and how Venice had gone into mourning because of this, a rare letter sent from the Napoleonic Wars with interesting content about the naval campaign in the Adriatic Estimate: € 1’500 – € 2’000
