Lot 20106 – 1856 Veracruz 4 Reales Red on Express cover

Veracruz 4r red, very good margins all around, lightly tied on dispatch by cds, used on April 3, 1861 entire letter to Puebla, endorsed « p. Express » and therefore paying double the normal rate. Very few express covers are known in this issue; this was used in the month when the issue was demonetised.
