Lot 50248 – 1871 (Sept 1) Return receipt bearing 2b and 3b with broken « S » in « POSTA » possibly a unique example on cover

1871 (Sept 1) Return receipt which accompanied a registered letter sent from Dorohoi, bearing a superb mixed franking of the 2b orange with four good to large margins, and the 3b violet large to huge margins showing the spectacular variety broken « S » in « POSTA », tied by scroll type A65 cds, paying the 5b fee for a return receipt; central vertical crease which has been reinforced, horizontal crease through top of 2b, some wear to edges as would be expected for such a document; however an attractive item and an extraordinarily rare combination, the 3b in superb condition with the variety; which is only present on one position of the six different stones, possibly a unique example of this variety on cover; cert.
