1789-1860s, collection of 37 pre-stamp covers (mostly sent abroad) from the regions of Russia, Estonia, Finland and Ukraine mounted on album pages, incl. very fine strike of the small font « ST .PETERSBVRG » on 1789 entire, 1794 cover with small « MOCKBA », 1818 Cyrillic Ostrov hs, 1868 cover from Tiflis, 1835 & 1837 covers with Cyrillic Helsinki hs and two with italic « Abo. », etc., with a range of postal markings and transit hs such as « AUSS RUSSLAND », « AUS RUSSLAND / FRANCO », « AUS RUSSLAND / EISENB. POST. BURV », « AUS RUSSLAND über BUR. XI EDK. BRG. », etc., the quality being above normal for the condition and strikes, a lovely lot.
