1820-50s, Pre-stamp collection of mail from and to Calcutta, with much well written-up with noted 1828 Postage Free outer letter sheet, 1850 entire with red three-line framed Steam Postage/ Inland/ Total handstamp filled in with manuscript, 1850 home-made envelope to Cheltenham with framed Ship Letter date stamp with negative wafer seal of Government/ Agents/ Office, 1856 envelope to Boston, USA with red framed INDIA handstamp, many other similar handstamp covers mostly to England including one with ‘INDI’ variety caused by wear, a few with black framed INDIA UNPAID; a fine range mostly in good condition (47).
