1840 (Jun 1) entire letter from Manchester to Bordeaux, bearing 1840 1d black pl.2 QC-QE strip of three (some faults), QF and QG singles and QI-QL strip of four, mostly clear margins all around, neatly cancelled and tied by red Maltese crosses and additionally cancelled by French arrival c.d.s. in red, the internal letter contains the text « this letter is a specimen of our new postage act », an incredible and extremely rare overseas destination cover of exhibition quality.
