Description
80 parale brick-red on thin white paper, with clear impression and four margins, cancelled by MICHALENI MOLDOVA, with inverted date « 1/1… ». Some tiny paper breaks at the base of the stamp outside the printed image, due to the force of applying the postmark, otherwise very fine.This cancellation is extremely rare; according to Kiriac Dragomir, only 740 such stamps were used at Mihaileni, and this postmark was employed only in late 1858 and 1859. To our knowledge, no such item has been present in the significant Romanian collections of the past 50 years. Great rarity, cert. Cherata AIEP (2024) Réf catalogue: Mi. 7ay
