1840-1880s, world collection in Album Universel de Timbres-Poste, Maury album, 5th edition, Paris, c. 1885, a very fresh intact classic album (254 numbered pages) with many stamps inserted. The album is in wonderful condition, bound in half leather with marbled boards. The album is undated but has compartments for stamps up till 1884. Containing good range GB from 1840, good German States, France incl 5fr 1869, better Italian States, good Americas. Very many better stamps spotted and this lot deserves a thorough viewing. Many stamps are glued to pages but some hinged, exhibiting the usual mix of quality we expect from such old-time collection, as well as mix of genuine and facsimile stamps. A fascinating collection from the dawn of stamp collecting.
