Lot 21014 – 1840-1910 All World

1840-1910 All World: This album was found among the contents of an Irish country house, in Bellefield House, Shinrone, Co Offaly. The house and gardens had recently been bequeathed to the RHSI (Royal Horticultural Society of Ireland), and the album was discovered in the library at the house when work was being undertaken to assess the book collection. This large leather-bound tome titled The Century Postage Stamp Album was printed by Stanley Gibbons and shows mint and used with a fine array of countries present with strength in Great Britain and British Empire including GB Edward VII 1 1/2d to 1s in mint blocks of four, South Africa with some Cape triangulars, Mafeking 1900 Goodyear 1d pale blue on blue, unused and Baden-Powell 3d used single tied on fragment, useful ranges of Australian States and Japan, plus much more. This old-time assembly is beautifully presented in a charming old-world-style album (100’s).
