Austrian Field Post in Romania (Levant): 1856 Crimean War, Austrian occupation in Moldavia (Focsani). Letter sent on 12/10/1856 from Focsani to Paris, France, struck with fine circular « K. K. FELDPOSTAMT / 3s. Ae. Cs. » cds of the Field Post Office of the 3rd. Army Corps in Focsani in black (Tchilinghirian fig. 737), via Hermannstadt (now Sibiu) 15/10, arrival 21/10. Ink notation of the Austrian rates: 6k for Levant, 9k domestic rate, 8k for transit in Prussia and Belgium, 12k for France and taxed on arrival with 16 decimes. Very fine condition, very rare.
