Lot 40074 – Argentina 1943 (22 Janv) crash mail cover to Switzerland

Crash Mail: 1943 (15.10.) registered airmail cover to Olten, Switzerland with Bermudan censorship at left applied in transit, the aircraft that carried the mail from South America crashed and sank when landing on the Tagus river in Lisbon, 20 passengers died, the stamps have washed off and a white label applied ‘Im Wasser gelegener Brief/ (Flugzeugungluck)/ Marken fehlen, Basel 2 Bv.’, Lisbon transit and arrival backstamps.
