DOUBLE IMPRESSION ON COVER
1852 1b Greyish green, double impression, pre-cancelled by pen stroke used as postage due on the reverse of a cover from Rome to Riano, obverse bears despatch circular datestamp 28 GIU 63, slightly touched at left, is however considered to be the best of the very few known double-print varieties on cover, a rarity (Sass. € 55’000)
Expertisation: signed and certified by Alberto Diena (1967), signed and certified by Sorani (1983), plus also other signatures of recognised experts
