Kushanas, Shaka, c. mid-4th century, AV dinar, 7.67 g. (19 mm). Obverse: Shaka, standing facing, head with halo left, wearing conical decorated hat, sacrificing over altar and holding staff, trident with ribbons to left, with Brahmi inscription Shaka at right, mi under arm. Reverse: Ardoksho enthroned, facing, holding garland and cornucopia, tamgha left.
VF+, well-defined features, minor flan break on the edge.
A coin from the time of uncertain Kushan late chronology, it is thought that Shaka was one of the last rulers of the Kushan Empire. The different types of his coins are distinguished by variations in the Brahmi letters appearing under the king’s left arm.
