The largest and most comprehensive collection for the British Forces in Egypt ever formed, being the lifetime passion of John Davis and the basis for his set three-volume books on the subject.
The collection is mounted and beautifully written up on approximately 870 album pages. The order and presentation of the collection is as per the books and as follows:
The Historical Background with the Anglo-Egyptian Treaty cancels and the Suakin Campaign postal history of 1885, plus early Military Mail, Base Army Post Office, Field Post Office, Army Post Office, British Barracks TPO’s, Hospital Ship, WWI New Zealand Forces, Sea Post Office, Indian I.E.F. cancels of WWI plus much more.
Postal Concession Period with Postal Seals, Letter Seals ands Christmas Seals including singles, blocks, reconstructed and complete sheets/booklet panes, cancels, singles used on cover, in particular the 1935 Silver Jubilee 1pi ultramarine, 1936-39 Army Post Issues of Fuad & Farouk with mint, used, Royal misperforations and cancelled on reverse, plus an amazing range of covers with interesting usages and cancels including MPO markings etc.
WWII postal history including hundreds of covers with Australian Forces, American Forces, Czech Forces, Free French Forces, Indian Forces, New Zealand Forces, South African Forces, United Nations Forces, plus Airmail Letter Cards, Egyptian Postage Prepaid, Military Censorship, Official Mail, POW’s with Italian and POW’s, Field Post Offices etc.
