Lot 10550 – Mexico 25c engraved Mexico Name Only cover to Zacatecas

Mexico 25c orange litho « Mexico Name Only », frame line just cut into at lower right, on cover to Zacatecas dated October 20, 1866, tied by clear « FRANCO / MEXICO » cds. Very fine and although 4’000 of the 25c were issued, very few were actually used and therefore very few covers have survived. Note: These stamps without the consignment number, but with the gothic Mexico overprint, were issued in exchange for Eagle stamps at the beginning of the issue.
