Description

1871, 100 mon dark blue, plate 1, intermediate printing, position 28, tied by large « Saikyo Kensazumi » handstamp to reverse of cover addressed to Fushimi, struck at top with red circular framed « Hori » of Sanjo-Nishihorigawa, « hakoba” (mail deposit place) type postmark. Cert. Florian Eichhorn BPP (2009).

A single franking in outstandingly fine quality, rarely found with such a perfect strike of the large Saikyo Kensazumi on a superb stamp with exceptional wide margins, further enhanced by the full contents, this being a rare characteristic in postal history of the « Dragon » issues.
