6 Parale brick red, very fine marginal single, tied by ornamental BUCURESTI cds, ribbons, on 1862 folded lettersheet sent locally.

Single frankings of this stamp are considered major Romania rarities as almost all usages of this value represent multiple frankings. Heimbüchler mentions that he has seen only four such single usages. A similar but cut-in example was sold for CHF18’200 in the « Moldau » sale Part 1. Nevertheless, our own research of all major auction sales from the past reveals only two such covers are known. The cover offered here is by far the finest of the two known. Cert. Gmach (2023).
