A Cross Border Rarity

80 Parale red on bluish paper, large margined single, superbly tied by oval FRANCO/JASSY in bright blue, on neat on registered envelope via Fokschani to Bucarest, with additional JASSY/MOLDOVA/2.5 cds and RECIPISSE straight-line alongside. The 80 parale rate only paid the postage to the Walachian Border, being 40 parale and 40 parale registration, the balance was paid by the receiver. Cert. Gmach (2023)

This unique cover is the best of the cross-border usages in the entire Classic Romania, considered by many collectors as the most valuable of the rare 80 parale on bluish paper. A normal-condition example on bluish paper on cover was sold in the Tomasini sale by David Feldman in 2006 for €36’000; for a 40 parale cross-border cover, see « Cornelia » collection, lot 7054, sold for CHF12’000.
