Description

1794 (May 29th) Folded cover sent from Longford to Dublin, and redirected to Thurles, rated « 4 » being deleted and rerated « 8 », showing faint but clear strike of the scarce black dotted oval T * OFF, Dublin Bishop JU/2 bs, very fine and scarce on internal mail and the rarest of the two types of T.Off mkgs.

Note: The phrase Takings Off (T.OFF) was used within the Post Office for the accounting calculations usually applied to incoming redirected letters when the rate was adjusted.
