1855 (Oct 4) Wreck cover from Liverpool to Victoria, endorsed « per Shomberg » (sic) with Embossed 1s green, good to large margins (11mm scissor-cut at lower-right just intrudes on the design), tied by superb Liverpool spoon duplex, « 1d » accountancy hs due to Victoria, reverse with Victoria Ship Letter Free arrival in red, carried per Black Ball Line « Schomberg » on her maiden voyage which ran aground off Cape Otway on 27.12.1855, with the passengers and mail transferred to « Queen », which arrived Melbourne 28.12.1855, the finest and most attractive of only five covers recorded from this famous wreck, #1 in Brian Peace’s Census & illustrated p.62, ex JRW Purves and Brian Peace.
