1897 Stampless envelope sent registered from the palace of the Empress of Russia Maria Feodorovna (6 June 1872 – 17 July 1918, initials M.F.), showing the purple stamped marking of the Czarina’s cloakroom (Garderobe), reverse showing the VERY RARE EARLY DIPLOMATIC LABEL « Expedition Officielle » with two red wax seals of the foreign ministry either side of the label, addressed to « Miss Temple » at Sandringham (now private home of Queen Elizabeth II), slight rough opening at top otherwise fine and very rare item documenting the postal history of the imperial family.
