THE HIGHEST MULTIPLE FRANKING KNOWN OF ROMAGNA
1859, 1/2baj yellow-straw, two horizontal pairs and one horizontal strip of four, all displaying good margins, cleanly tied by lozenges on 4 Nov. 1859 folded entire letter from Pontelagoscuro to Venice, with dispatch and receiving cds’s at right, franked at 4 baj rate to the border and charged on arrival in ms for the portion of the journey in Veneto; the only recorded example of this franking in which all stamps have no faults and exhibit all stamps well margined, also representing the highest known multiple franking of Romagna; this great rarity is certainly one of the finest and most spectacular covers of this territory
