1859 Lapirot 2d. blue, position 9, touched at top, a bit in at base, complete margins on sides, in combination with well margined 1859-61 Britannia 6d. blue, both tied by oval bars cancels on folded cover (side flaps lacking) from Port Louis to Melbourne, Australia, with red crayon ‘4’ accountancy mark on front, truck on reverse with ‘GPO/JY15 1859/MAURITIUS’ cds and red receiving cds, closed tear and creasing to cover, the Lapirot stamp being torn, despite faults, a very unusual destinationProvenance: Vikram Chand
