1874 (26.1) Letter from Cairo via Alexandria to Paris, franked 1872/75 Bordeaux 80c., tied lozenge “5119”, with LE CAIRE / BAU FRANCAIS / 26 JANV 74 circular datestamp alongside, underfranked so framed AFFRANCHISSEMENT INSUFFISANT marking was applied, postage due manuscrpt of 3 f 20 was applied but was then struck and replaced by 32, backstamped French Post Office transit ALEXANDRIE / EGYPTE / 27 JANV. 74 and arrival PARIS / ÉTRANGER / 6 FEVR. 74, cvr creases, an attractive and scarce usage full of character
