1879 « The 60th – The King’s Royal Rifle Corps » on active service during the Anglo-Zulu war, officer’s letter envelope sent to the Isle of Wight via Durban bearing Natal 6d with « POSTAGE » inverted overprint (SG83b) cancelled « 2 », which entered the postal system at Durban, missing backflap, a rarity of the Anglo-Zulu war
Note: Written by Captain Charles Cramer who served the duration of the campaign, including the advance & relief of Eshowe and at the battle of Ginindlovu and commanded two companies that served as escort of the Zulu King after his capture from the Black Umfolzi to Ulundi
