CEYLON USED IN INDIA 1859 Folded cover from Chitttoor to Ceylon franked by 1856-64 1/2a which paid all the internal Indian postage and with a 1857-59 Ceylon 1d for the postage from India to Ceylon, both stamps cancelled by the Madras circle type 6 « C/126 » of Chittoor post office, as the charge was payable to the Ceylon postal authorities the Ceylon stamp was accepted as prepayment of postage, technically some ink erosions on obverse of cover and light adhesives faults not detracting from this exceptional franking, cert.
