Plate 4 NK, three margins, tied on 1840 (Oct 23) wrapper from Newcastle-under-Lyme to Dover by red MC, redirected to ITALY endorsed « Post Restante / Naples » and seemingly carried privately there, before being sent back to England, with Napoli May 5 ds, sent via France and charged 1/7 on arrival, with boxed « LCO / POSTAGE NOT PAID / TO LONDON » hs, some minor fold splitting, an extraordinary usage and probably the first cover from Italy with a stamp Vente aux enchères
