Rustenburg British Occupation: 1900 Transvaal 2/6d. dull violet and green, handstamped « V.R » in violet, unused; thinned at top and attached by the previous owner to a small piece in order to protect the stamp, though of good colour and fine appearance. Only ten unused examples of this major British Empire rarity have been recorded; ex Birkhead; cert. Brandon (1998) (S.G. £11’000, Michel 17). Catalogue ref: S.G. 8
