Lot 51006 – 1911 Sherwin reprints made after the plates were presented to the Royal Philatelic Society including 1d (unissued) and 2d sheets of 12 in black, plus the reverse sides of the plates

1911 Sherwin reprints made after the plates were presented to the Royal Philatelic Society, London, and defaced, including 1d (unissued) and 2d sheets of 12 in black, each mounted on sunken card, in superb condition, plus reprints from the back of the original plates printed also in black, with reverse of One Penny Plate showing advertisement in French of Hotel d’Europe in Port Louis, and the back of Two Pence Plate, with similar text in English but part of the frame missing as in the original plate, both on sunken cards, some minor foxing on the latter two, only 20 sets were made (see copy of the article relating to this on this lot on our website) but likely only 17 complete sets available to collectors, ideal for the specialist and for plating the stamps.
