German States to Moldavia / Romania: 1861 Thurn und Taxis 15kr+1kr on cover front (plus the upper part of the reverse) sent registered from Darmstadt on 7/8 to Roman, Moldavia, with a transit part cancellation of Hermannstadt, Transylvania, Austria on reverse. Interesting rate and transit notations for the postal history specialist, discussed and illustrated by Gmach in « Österreichische und ungarische Posteinrichtungen in den Donaufürstentümern (Rumänien) », volume 3 page 281. A very rare destination with only a few sendings recorded.
