Description
1865 Letter from Vienna (Feb. 19/Mar. 3, 1865) to Zante (Feb. 23/Mar. 7, 1865) via Trieste and Kerkyra. Insufficiently franked with 5 kreuzer (red François-Joseph) instead of 25 kreuzer. Taxed at the arrival at 70 lepta,written on blue pencil, complementary payment to the regular rate of 85 lepta (5 kreuzer = 15 lepta) according to the 1867 convention between Greece and Austria. Black postmark « AFF. INSUFF. » for « Insufficiently paid ». Red wax seal on the back. The three stamps are from the « cleaned plates » printings (1868/1869). The 10 lepta is faulty.
