1862-1869 Three letters & two fragments: 1. Two fragments of letters of 1862 between Greece & Italy with Paris printing large Hermes heads. 2. Unpaid letter from Genova (Oct. 18/30, 1863) to Athens (Oct. 24/Nov. 5, 1863). Taxed at the arrival at 112 lepta (written on red pencil) for a letter up to 10 grams transported by French boats according to the convention of 1861 between Greece and Italy. The 4 stamps are from the consecutive Athens printings. The 80lepta has been teared up during the opening… Anyway a rare rate. 3. Unpaid letter from Messina (Aug. 8/20, 1869) to Syros (Aug. 11/23, 1869). Taxed at the arrival at 90 lepta, written on blue pencil, corresponding to a letter up to 10 grams (single rate) transported by the French boats according to the 1864 convention between Greece & Italy and the circulaire of the Director of the Greek Post-offices of Jan. 5, 1865 (« Voie Française »). The 2 stamps are from one of the consecutive Athens printings. 4. Fragment of a letter from Argostolion (May 5/17, 1869) to Messina (May 8/20, 1869), via Kerkyra (May 6/18, 1869) & Gallipoli (May 7/19, 1869). Franked at 65 lepta corresponding to a letter up to 10 grams (single rate) transported by Austrian or Italians boats according to the 1864 convention between Greece & Italy and the circulaire of the Director of the Greek Post-offices of Jan. 5, 1865. The 3 stamps are from one of the consecutive Athens printings.
