1898 flimsy sent from the U.S.S. « St Louis » to Key West naval base by CARRIER PIGEON, the message of thanks from Capt C.F. Goodrich to Rear Admiral C Carpenter (the commandant of the U.S. navy yard at Portsmouth, N.H.), handstamped ‘Property of Navy Yard, Portsmouth, N.H.’ A very rare example of pigeon post used during the Spanish American War.
