Description
1869-1947 Collection filled with complete representation of basic set. Post stamp series, postage series, imperf proofs, progressive proofs of pictorial issues, imperf die proofs of the 1931 pictorial issues. 1869 first issue (type 1) and the 1870 skeleton issue (type 2) mounted on page, including proofs of the first issue of Hyderabad. Hollands plating study of the ½ , 2 and 3 annas from the 1871 post-stamp series (type 3), a beautiful cover of the 4 annas pair from the same post-stamp series. 3 annas plating study is mainly the study of the error (missing character) with over 15 copies (including 4 pairs). All the mint stamps including shades of the post-stamp are mounted on page, the imperf proofs of the same post-stamp series on thick paper of all values, perf 11½ of the ½ and 3 annas also are included. Proofs/colour trials in blocks of the 1905-15 Type 4 series along with a good basic representation of it on page, officials of the type 3 (post-stamp) are noted – 8 anna brown and 12 annas blue with official – opt type O1a. Die proofs of the 1931 complete pictorial issues are the highlight of the collection, with progressive dies of the 1 anna brown charminar issue extremely rare, probably UNIQUE. We also note colour trials of the 12 annas and 1 rupee of the pictorial but inscribed POSTAGE & REVENUE instead of POSTAGE. Hollands plating study and die proofs of the pictorial issue are the key items of the collection. A strong basis for a future world class collection with archival material that is extremely rare to acquire. Fine to very fine items and well described (SG £ 20000++).
