1840 1d black pl.4 SB-SK horizontal strip of 10 on cover from Taunton (Somerset) to South Molton (Devon), tied by 10 strikes of a red MC, generally good margins (close or just touched in 2 or 3 places at top), ‘’Taunton OC 12 1840’’ departure strike and, on reverse, ‘’Too Late’’. Light vertical filing folds. A magnificent cover of the utmost rarity. Expertise: Cert R.P.S. (1985)Provenance: « Victoria » (1975) and Fraser (2001).
