1721-1867 County Down Postal History: Exhibition collection of postal history entitled « MOURNE MAILS » being mails from the County of Down, neatly mounted and written up on 68 album pages showing an extensive array 117 covers and cover fronts, folded entires or envelopes. Post Towns including Ballynahinch, Banbridge, Bangor, Castlewellan, Clough, Comber, Donaghadee, Down, Dromore, Gilford, Hillsborough, Holywood, Kilkeel, Killinchy, Killyleagh, Loughbrickland, Newry, Newtownards, Rathfriland, Rostrevor and Warrenpoint, plus Sub-Offices and Receiving Houses from Ardglass, Bryansford, Carrowdore, Clandeboye, Coolsallagh, Donacloney, Greencastle, Hilltown, Katesbridge, Killough, Laurencetown, Moyallon, Newcastle, Omeath, Portaferry, Saintfield, Scarva, Strangford and Waringstown. Various different postal markings present for example double arc circle ds, two line mileage marks, straight-line hs and abbreviated straight-line hs, circular Bishop ds, diamond numerals, duplex hs, undated circular hs, 2-line cursive and upright receiving house markings, boxed PAID AT handstamps. Mixed to very fine, an excellent basis for study and a wonderful opportunity to expand into an eight-frame exhibit; viewing is highly recommended.
