1938-47, « Badge of the Colony » study collection on 35 album pages, starting with an A4-size map of the island published 1794, with a comprehensive array of values and sets as single stamps and many shades and multiples. This lot also includes Specimen perforated (2 sets plus extras) including very rare multiples of the perforated specimen values. Of note are the violet hand stamped « Specimen » hs from 1/2d to 5s (missing only 1d scarlet), plus extras incl. 3d block of four as well as on both 1d on 2d carmine (S.G. 264 and S.G. 264e, ex E. M. Bayley.) The study includes many mint blocks with some printer’s imprint and sheet number blocks as well as a 3d half sheet, a study on the shades and printings, noted a 1d green double printed one albino (S.G. £900, tone spots), a few covers incl. invalid usage with 1d postage due block of four, etc., a sizeable valuable assembly formed over decades, hundreds of examples, in predominately fine to very fine condition, a must view lot.
