Description
Egypt – Postal Stationery: 1865-1930 Outstanding gold medal winning eight frame exhibition collection expertly mounted and knowledgeably written up on 128 album pages. The collection presents a comprehensive study of the Postal Stationery issued from 1879 through to 1930.The extent of the collection covers the different usages of stationery material, postal routes, the prevailing rates as well as the early Essays from 1865 onwards, plus specimens, proofs, die proofs and varieties.
The collection is ordered in the following way; Frame 1 to 3 – The envelopes with essays by Prevost, National Bank Note Company, Renard, Penasson with some unique. The only recorded hand-drawn essay for the watermark, die proofs and Specimens. Envelopes unused and used showing the different sizes, different usages with Egypt Used Abroad in Wadi Halfa and Korosko. Colour trial used, maritime mail from TOR in Sinai to Vienna, plus one of only four recorded Albino impressions. Frames 4 to 6 – The postcards with one of only three recorded essays of the double overprint, die proof, specimens, earliest recorded usage from abroad in Constantinople, various varieties, destinations etc. Frames 7 to 8 – Letter sheets with usage of Star & Crescent inter postal seal, rare tax mkg, Wrappers with Specimens and rare tax mkg, Registered Letters with die proofs, essays and photographic essays, plus much more in each frame.
