1850s incoming wrapper from Oldenburg, GE with 1854 1/30th Mi.2 type III (1854) cancelled with FRANCO as part-payment for Bremen « PAID TO BREMEN » plus tax notice for New York 10c (1c for Bremen + 4c for sea transport + 5c for New York). Cover left Oldenburg 23/11, Bremen 24/11 and arrived in New York on Sylvester. Rare oval « NEW YORK POST OFFICE ADVERTISED » cachet. The cover with some ageing, as to be expected on this long journey, but an interesting transatlantic cover from the 1850s for the postal history specialist.
