Description

1852–57 Pence Combination Cover – Horizontally Ribbed Paper

Two ½d deep rose and one 3d red all on horizontally ribbed paper (one of only two combination covers known with both stamps ribbed), tied by “16” grid with HAMILTON U.C., MR 26 1858 circular datestamp and straight-line REGISTERED, sent via Woodstock to Eastwood.

One of only three covers known where the 1d registration fee was paid entirely with stamps.
