1856 Stampless Registered CoverEnvelope from Galt, C.J., 9 June 1856, with circular datestamp and straight-line REGISTERED marking to Toronto. Carried at the quadruple letter rate, with 1d for registration collected on delivery. Notably, the registration fee of 1d normally had to be prepaid; this is the only recorded cover where it was collected upon delivery.Illustrated in Harrison, Registered Mail.
