Description

1851 ½d Deep Rose on Printed Circular

½d deep rose on vertically ribbed paper, outer frameline just cut into at foot otherwise clear margins, tied on a printed circular dated 15 April 1858 by Toronto grid, routed via Stratford (28 April) and Shakespeare, addressed to Donegal, splitting along the folds has caused the back to be loose.

One of only two recorded covers 1/2d on vertically ribbed paper.

Illustrated in Gems of Canadian Philately (1996), highlighting its rarity and significance in early Canadian postal history.
