1909 SHIP MAIL ON THE RIVER DANUBE: Postcard to Germany franked Russia 3k posted on ship of the Black Sea & Danube Steam Shipping Company, delivered to the company’s agency in Galatz and cancelled 4 line datestamp in violet in cyrillic translated as AGENCY OF THE BLACK SEA & DANUBE STEAM SHIPPING COMPANY AT GALLATZ 11 6 09. Ships on this line based in Odessa had post-boxes for letters posted on board, though evidently this service was seldom used, this example being unique.
