Gupta Empire, Samudragupta, c. 335-375, AV dinar, 7.73 g. (21 mm). Obverse: ‘javelin’ type; king wearing royal tunic with belt and diadem standing on base, holding javelin with spearhead pointed down and sacrificing at altar, with Garuda standard in left field, Brahmi samudra below his left arm, circular Brahmi legend around from 1 o’clock. Reverse: goddess Lakshmi enthroned, with halo, holding diadem and cornucopia, Brahmi inscription at right, parakrama, tamgha left, dotted border around. Kumar, TOTGE 2024, Class II, variety IIA. Raven, SG/group 2.
EF+, strong details with nice smooth surfaces, well-centered and with fully legible legends.
