1918 Provisional issue for Aleppo, 1/2 piastre « DROIT DE TAXE PERCU ALEP » cancelled « HALEP 4.11.18 ». A major Syria rarity of superb quality. This provisional postage stamp was exclusively used in Aleppo. Only four examples are known according to the Kaczmarczyk handbook: two covers (with three stamps in total) and this off cover single. One of the rarest stamps of the middle east and unique off cover. This issue which only exists used is also catalogued in the Yvert & Tellier of 1936 and in the Stanley Gibbons as A2 (unpriced).
