Lot 10035 – 1862 Folded entire from Tanta with blue oval Type III cachet “POSTA EUROPEA / ZAGAZIK” hs

1862 (6.12) Folded entire from Zagazik to Alexandria, with blue oval Type III cachet “POSTA EUROPEA / ZAGAZIK” with date at the centre of the handstamp, showing scarce blue boxed « FRANCA » alongside, rated « 1 1/2 » piaster in blue crayon and « A » for Alexandria applied at right of Franca which was deleted as applied in error, fine and rare.

Note: It is believed that the ‘Franca’ handstamp was only used on mail to large users of the Posta Europea who settle accounts by invoice.
