Argentina: Officials, 1901 « Liberty Head » Issue. An outstanding collection mounted on 26 double- and 55 single written-up exhibition pages, comprising: very scarce unadopted essays featuring the design of the regular « Liberty Seated » issue, die essays without value, die single and composite proofs on card and/or thin paper, colour trial plate proofs in blocks of four, with the highlight in this group being the 30c plate proof complete sheet of 50 (unique); abundant perforation- and imperforate varieties including impressive 5c full sheet of 50 imperforate at left, multiples with requisition numbers, marginal imprint varieties, complete sheets and scarce used multiples. The postal history display includes the only known registered domestic rate with the 2c, a probably unique 50c single franking on cover, 50c on parcel tag, rare 1c on registered mail. A most unusual and rare exhibit, with the added significance of including a personal study for the 1c with complete sheets and plate numbers, including an exceedingly rare full sheet of 50 without plate number.
