Lot 51281 – 1818 (August 27th) letter with a very rare Dundalk « REFUSED » hs

1818 (August 27th) letter sent by James Crawley to James Healey from Dublin to Dundalk, regarding signature of receipt showing a « DUNDALK / 40 » mileage mark and rated « 6 », subsequently deleted by a the very rare Dundalk « REFUSED » hs, the letter was rerated « 1/-« , was returned to the sender, « For James Crawley / of / Allardston », an important postal history rarity. One of only two usages of the Dundalk REFUSED handstamp so far recorded.
