Description

1871, 200 mon vermilion, plate 1, position 26, exhibiting the three states of plate condition: pre-damaged (used example with minute surface rubbing), damaged and retouched, the latter two with unused examples without gum as issued, full to large margins. (JHES ¥460,000).

Note: The progressive deterioration of the surface of the dragon copper plates was especially remarkable in positions 22, 26 and 30, which required these positions to be retouched.
